Overview
The Deegaan Boost Program successfully concluded a Youth Climate Adaptation Forum on
14 October in partnership with the Global Center on Adaptation. The forum brought together
youth leaders, environmental advocates, and key stakeholders to discuss the role of young
people in advancing climate adaptation and environmental sustainability in Somalia. The
event provided a platform for dialogue on climate challenges affecting communities and
highlighted the importance of youth participation in developing practical and sustainable
climate solutions.

Key Highlights
The forum featured remarks from distinguished speakers including Ustaad Abdishakur Daaha
and Ahmed Abdi Osman, who emphasized the importance of youth-led initiatives in
strengthening climate resilience and promoting environmental awareness.
Mohamed Champion, Chairperson of the Somali National Youth Council, also addressed
participants and highlighted the importance of empowering young people to actively
contribute to national development and climate governance.
Special Commemoration
During the event, the SOYAL team also commemorated Somali Flag Day, recognizing the
national significance of the Somali flag and reaffirming the values of unity, identity, and
collective responsibility toward building a sustainable future.
